AI & Big Data Expo

Cutting-edge technology and human unpredictability came face to face at Amsterdam’s major technology week on October 19–20, 2026.
The TechEx AI & Big Data Expo Europe, held at RAI Amsterdam, brought together more than 8,000 professionals to discuss AI, IoT, cybersecurity, and scalable data architectures, while the city pulsed to the beat of the massive Amsterdam Dance Event (ADE) at the same time. This created a fascinating contrast, as technology industry leaders and an international electronic music crowd filled the city’s streets at exactly the same time.
The fair’s entertainment program was pure comedy.
The evening’s networking cruise aboard the legendary Supperboat was the event’s most memorable highlight.
As the discussions about neural networks heated up, a few daring participants decided to demonstrate algorithmic flexibility in practice.
Stepping into the center of the floor, the business people performed smooth dance and breakdance moves that instantly caught on with the rest of the audience,
who were laughing and dancing like wildfire to the accompaniment of a live band.
Outside the air-conditioned walls of the RAI, the chaotic Dutch fall weather brought its own set of variables. A sudden, torrential downpour turned the streets into a track littered with obstacles. A real-life comedy unfolded on the busy roads surrounding the exhibition grounds, where speeding trucks traveling close to crowded sidewalks repeatedly sent massive waves of water crashing down on passing tech professionals. Suddenly it began to feel home and very much like typical Finnish weather.
Beyond the main expo, the developer community gathered at separate, specialized events across the city. Running alongside the expo, the independent AI Builders Meetup event became an electric standalone session for AI developers to network. The technological energy then shifted to Vrije Universiteit (VU) Amsterdam for another distinct gathering to the Processing Community Day Amsterdam. This separate event brought together a passionate programming community for creative coding workshops and tech talks.
The entire journey from spanning corporate AI sessions, soaking-wet commutes, a breakdancing software engineer, and the pulsing backdrop of ADE, culminated beautifully at VU with an live-coding art performance.

More Than Just a Tech Event
We recently had the opportunity to attend TechBBQ in Denmark as part of our efforts to enter the Danish market. Our goal was to introduce one of our products (KARPON), connect with potential customers and identify companies interested in piloting the solution.
As the event unfolded, it became clear that there was much more to take away than potential business opportunities, and product visibility.
Beyond the main event.
Some of the most memorable experiences happened outside the main programme.
The Hackathon Winner celebration was one of the highlights. It was a chance to celebrate the creativity and work that goes into building new ideas, but it was also another opportunity to meet people in a more relaxed setting.
And yes, the after-parties were part of the experience too.
While these events offered plenty of opportunities to let loose after a busy day, they also turned out to be surprisingly valuable for networking and learning. Sometimes the most interesting conversations happen when people are no longer standing in a booth or sitting in a formal presentation. A casual conversation can introduce you to a completely new perspective, a different industry, or an idea you had not considered before.
More than finding customers
We went to TechBBQ with a clear objective: to find potential customers and/or pilot customers and get a feel for the Danish market. We left with something broader; new conversations, new perspectives and a better understanding of the people and ideas shaping the tech community.
For us, that is part of what makes events like TechBBQ worthwhile. They are not only about showcasing what you have built. They are also about stepping outside your usual environment, meeting people you would not normally meet and, perhaps most importantly, learning something new.
As we continue exploring other markets, the conversations and experiences from TechBBQ give us plenty to think about, and hopefully some new business relationships to build.
EU-Startups Summit
May 2026 · Valletta, Malta
Attending the EU Startup Summit 2026 in Malta was a wild, sunny, and surprisingly productive experience for a small Finnish IT company.
The transition from the fresh and predictable daily routine at our Kerava office to Malta’s bustling entrepreneurial hub was inevitably a culture shock. We swapped our trusty office coffee for a strong Mediterranean espresso and dove headfirst into one of Europe’s largest technology events.
As a small Finnish IT company, our main goals were clear: to seek out new technology partnerships, find pilot companies for our KARPON product, and prove that Finns really can socialize without having three beers beforehand.
The summit itself was a whirlwind of keynote speeches, intense networking, and impressive presentations. We spent our days wandering through rows of innovative booths, chatting with potential clients from Malta and all around the Europe, and trying to explain why our cloud architecture solutions, complete with data warehouses, are as solid and secure as a Finnish sauna.
The contrast between Finnish efficiency and the Mediterranean pace of life surprised us right away. We stayed in a five-story but very narrow Airbnb apartment, and after a while, the trip from the kitchen downstairs to the terrace upstairs began to feel like a real chore.
To top it all off, I'd been in a bike accident the previous weekend, which slowed me down a bit when it came to participating in various side events, but of course didn't stop me.
For a small IT company like ours, the EU Startup Summit 2026 was the perfect playground. We left Malta with valuable new contacts, a couple of promising partnership opportunities, and a newfound appreciation for networking in person.
